Eileen vs Cancer

Donation protected
The cause I am writing about is very close to my heart. Back in 2005 my mom was diagnosed with Colon Cancer and after her chemotherapy and outpatient treatments she was able to beat it and return home.

The saying goes that tragedy comes in threes. In January of this year my dad, who will turn 91 in September and is a WWII Pacific Marine, fell and broke his hip. When he was released from the hospital the care and supervision he required to stay safe was not possible at home with my mom and I working. We could not afford in home health care and were unfortunately forced to enroll him into a long term care facility. A few months later I lost my job and have been trying to make ends meet with the money I have saved. Early this month I took my mom to the hospital because of a serious nose bleed that would not stop. The doctors drew some blood for testing and when the results came back her blood work was abnormal. After doing a painful bone marrow biopsy they diagnosed her with Leukemia which is a form of bone marrow and blood cancer.

It is unbearable for family to have someone diagnosed with cancer but words cannot explain the devastation we felt to hear that she now has cancer for a second time. The treatments for her Leukemia are aggressive and extensive, nearly 25 days of treatment in the hospital. In addition to the hospital there will be cycles of outpatient therapy and bone marrow biopsies to make sure the cancer stays at bay.

Once she is discharged from the hospital the doctors are saying she cannot return to work for a minimum of 5-6 months. The money I have in my savings is not enough to cover the cost of her medical bills, help with her mortgage, car payment, and her other expenses for the amount of time she will be out of work. I hope that you can find it in your heart to help me generate awareness for her being diagnosed with cancer for a second time.

With your help we can find a way to make sure she does not have to suffer more than she is with her chemotherapy. If your situation does not allow you to make a donation that is ok, I ask that you keep my mom and our family in your thoughts and prayers. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for taking the time to listen to me and my situation. I hope that you have a great rest of your day, Thank you!
