Since childhood, I have dreamed of visiting Egypt and exploring its ancient sites. That dream is finally within reach: I have been offered a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to join a 10-day, academically guided trip in February 2027 with a close friend and several colleagues from the Egyptology community. This trip serves as a field research trip for my Independent Egyptology. Expenses and trip deadline is November 2026 to make sure everything is booked for February.
This is not a tourist trip, but an immersive experience led by PhD Egyptologists, visiting major archaeological sites in Cairo and Luxor, visiting,
- The Pyramids of Giza,
- The Step Pyramid of Djoser
- the Saqqara complex
- The Grand Egyptian Museum
- The Egyptian Museum in Cairo
- The National Museum of Egyptian Civilization
- Old Cairo and key historic sites highlighting Egypt’s layered history
- Karnak Temple
- Luxor Temple
- The Mortuary Temple of Hatshepsut (Deir el-Bahri)
- The Valley of the Kings
- The Tombs of the Nobles
- Deir el-Medina (the Workmen’s Village)
- Luxor Museum
- Mummification Museum Pyramids of Giza, the Valley of the Kings, and more.
As an independent Egyptologist, this trip will deepen my scholarship, strengthen my ongoing research, and directly support the writing, teaching, and public education work I do through my press, podcast, and online platforms. Field experience like this is rare for independent scholars, and being guided by experts I admire makes it even more meaningful.
Funds will cover the trip deposit, remaining program fees (hotels, meals, domestic flights, site tickets, and expert guiding), travel essentials like my Egypt entry visa and international flights, and any necessary administrative costs. Every contribution directly supports my ability to attend this educational experience and bring new knowledge back to my writing, teaching, and podcast.
If you feel called to support, you can contribute any amount, share this fundraiser, or offer words of encouragement. Every form of support helps me take this step I’ve worked toward since childhood, and I’m deeply grateful to everyone who chooses to be part of this journey.
