Edie’s Kindness Project

Edie Jackson, our beautiful Warrior Princess and the bravest girl we know lost her 14-month battle with DIPG in January 2021 – she is forever seven.

We are sad because she is no longer with us, although the 7 years of beautiful memories we have will always live on, but also proud at the life she led and the legacy she left. A big part of this was Edie’s kindness, which shone through above all else. Whether sharing her toys, giving away her clothes, baking her beautiful cakes or biscuits or using her own money to buy people things; she always wants to make others smile.

With this in mind, the family wanted to be able to help other families who find themselves faced with the difficulty and devastation of DIPG. 'Edie's Kindness Project' is a fund aimed at supporting other DIPG families, relieving some of the burden for them and trying to make things a little easier, and of course making them smile – just how Edie would’ve wanted!

Edie's Walkathon 2022

On Saturday, 23rd July, we are organising a Walkathon in honour of our beautiful and courageous Edie. We will keep her legacy alive and hold her in our hearts as we walk the 26.2 mile route along the River Stort and River Lea, finishing in Waltham Abbey.

We hope that as many people as possible will join us, you can also choose full or half marathon distance, a 10km or 5km, maybe even get the kids involved on their scooters and bikes too - there is something for everyone!

Registration is £30 for adults and £20 for kids. This will include an Edie’s Kindness Project t-shirt. If you’re interested in joining then please get in touch with Laura Sorbera (07903161467) via WhatsApp or text and send her your name, T-shirt size and distance you’re planning on walking. The cut off date to sign up is 30th June, so please get in touch asap if you are keen.

If you'd prefer to cheer from the sidelines you can still support all those taking part by donating to this page. The finish line will be located at Elphwood Scouts Hall, Waltham Abbey from 1:30pm onwards where there will be entertainment for the kids, refreshments, food stalls, a bar and music which will go on into the evening.

Thank you for your continued support and we hope you will join us again this year
