I’m Ester and I’m fundraising this to my dearest friend Ed. We are friends and coworkers in a veterinary clinic in Dublin. He works as a receptionist and every client and colleagues know his kind smile.

Right now, Ed is going through the worst nightmare imaginable. His mother was crossing the border between Nepal and China when the devastating floods hit the region. She was with a small group of Latvians that are now reported missing. The last we heard from her was a photo she sent close to the border just ten minutes before the floods struck. Since then.. nothing. No calls, no messages, no news.

Ed’s mother is his only close family member, and he is absolutely devastated. He’s been relentlessly contacting the embassy, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the police, trying desperately to get any information at all.

Originally from Latvia and now living in Dublin, Ed doesn’t have the financial means to drop everything and travel at a moment’s notice, but that may be exactly what he needs to do if there’s any lead on his mother’s whereabouts.

We’re raising this emergency fund so that if Ed needs to travel urgently whether to Nepal, to a border town, or wherever a lead takes him, the cost of a plane ticket isn’t standing between him and his mother.

Ed has spent his life showing up for everyone else. Now it’s our turn to show up for him.
