Naranjal in Need
Donation protected
Engineers Without Borders: UW-Stout Chapter is raising money to support a small community in Naranjal, Ecuador by building a water system and offering care packages to households in need. The small village contains around 70-90 residents where an everyday need for clean water is difficult to obtain. Residents of the community must trek for a few kilometres in order to obtain water from springs or creeks. EWB: UW-Stout chapter plans on building a water system in the Summer of 2021 to which we can direct clean and purified water straight into their homes.
Currently all of Ecuador is in lock down including this small community. Living in the poorest region in Ecuador during this lockdown, residents cannot go out and sell their crops and everyday needs/supplies may become scarce. EWB UW-Stout chapter is hoping to raise money to help the families in Naranjal by working with local vendors in Ecuador to provide a few weeks of essential goods to the community.
The funding breakdown will cost roughly $15 per household for 20 households totaling to $300/week. Each household will receive a ration supply box on a weekly basis containing rice, lentils, salt, cooking oil, toothpaste, detergent, soap, etc. for six weeks.
In addition to the funds raised here we will be donating $2,000 to jump start a community garden. This garden will help make the community more self-sustaining and less susceptible to future crisis.
We appriate any help you can provide
Sincerely,
The students of the EWB UW-Stout Chapter
