Throughout the years, our Wrestling program has had a slow start but is certainly gaining popularity and momentum while moving in the right direction. Just recently a new head coach came on board. This new coach brings stability, passion, discipline, self control and a sense of pride to our program. With this, we are all excited as the season is about to begin.
This summer several of our student wrestlers attended a training camp in Iowa and were afforded the opportunity to meet with wrestling legend Dan Gable.
There are plenty of benefits awarded to the wrestlers who dedicate themselves to the sport. It's obvious that wrestling develops a physically strong base, but it also teaches lessons that can be translated into other aspects of life once a wrestler's career is over. Such as: personal growth & development, self-confidence, discipline, mental toughness, sportsmanship, competitiveness, physical fitness and self-defense.
With school budget cuts, the long promised Wrestling Spot Light is once again prolonged to the next school budget. The Wrestling booster club and parents alike feel that having a single light focused on the mat during Varsity matches will be a highlight to the wrestlers and to the school. Having a spot light will attract athletes and fans. It will bring an air of excitement to our fans while simultaneously promoting this great sport. For our wrestlers, the light will make them feel as if they're in an arena and they are the main event "“ it's just them out there and that's what makes wrestling unique.
Please help Eagle River "Light Up Wrestling" this season and for many seasons to come.
