Dance Team scammed out of $5000.
If you have Bank of America or any bank with zelle, please make sure you are talking to a real representative. I had a scammer call me yesterday from the BOA customer service number, was able to text my phone and email me as Bank of America, knew my company and personal information and cleared my account out.
They send me a message to verify if I authorized a transaction for almost $5,000 and called me which is not uncommon. Somehow, they cloned my Zelle email with a different bank and after verifying my email and information, cleared my account out through my own zelle and it looks like I send money to myself and it's all gone. $5,000 that we fundraised for since March is gone. I have $0.32 in my account and competition is in 4 weeks.
When I say real tears. I am still in disbelief and my bank may or may not be able to replace it because zelle is a third party company and technically "I" authorized it. I am sick. Please be aware and ask additional questions or tell them you'll come in person to handle it. Investigation can take up to 40 days. Please share to make people aware.
