Dwayne & Cheryl will be going to Brazil on April 25th to May 5 to assist with a church construction or expansion project along the Amazon River. In 2010 we were called to strengthen the hands of pastors, leaders and churches. What better way to do that then to build a church? We will be working with PAZ a ministry that builds churches along the Amazon River.
Dwayne went in 2008 with a team of 10 from our church and they built this church in 4 days! They were able to provide a building for over one hundred people in that area that travel to the church on small little boats along the Mozu River.
We are part of a team of 6 from our church Faith Temple and Eleventh Hour Christian Initiatives of Rochester, NY spearheaded by Pastor Gary Ham. We will be involved in a church expansion project to assist pastors and leaders in Santarem, Brazil. There will also be evangelistic opportunities to share the Gospel of Jesus Christ with our own personal testimonies in several villages nearby.
In 2008 when Dwayne went to Brazil the team took thousands of dollars worth of medicines to be used by the local missionaries. All of the suitcases were confiscated by the Brazilian government and never returned. Because of that our desire is to take an additional $5,000 with us to donate to PAZ so that they can use it towards logistics and any needs that the ministry has.
Our own personal expenses total $5000 and that covers transportation, meals, and lodging. Would you consider partnering with us through your prayers and your donations. It has always been our desire to travel just like the Apostle Paul did to other nations and share the Gospel of Jesus Christ. If you know us, you know that we are both very passionate and very vocal about our faith! You know that my hearts cry is Ephesians 4:12; My responsibility is to equip God's people, to do his work and build up the church, the body of Christ.
Sometimes we don't always think about how our personal day to day desicions can have an impact on our dreams and the call that God has on our lives.
When the opportunity first arose back in 2008 I was not physically fit to make the trip with Dwayne. My weight held me back from going on that trip. I was told by the leadership that I would not be able to physcially climb in and out of the boat as the tide changes. It was very disheartening to me to send Dwayne off without me. However this time, I am extremely excited that God has opened this door for me once again. Over the past year I have been dedicated to becoming the woman God wants me to be and I have lost a significant amount of weight. So we are headed to Brazil to be a blessing to churches and strengthen the hands of pastors.
