My name is Josh LeBlanc and I am an experienced TTRPG game master and content creator. I've been working on Duel Fates - 1999 for the better part of two years now and want to show it to the world in an eight episode livestreamed event.
Duel Fates is a TTRPG/TCG hybrid system inspired by the Yu Gi Oh anime. While the system can be adapted for any card game, it was initially designed for Yu Gi Oh and plays well into the inherent dramatics of the game. It is a two player system based loosely on FATE that allows players to roll to gain advantages using skills such as HEART OF THE CARDS and CHEATING. As players progress through the campaign, they gain enhancements to their special dueling powers as well as powerful new cards for their decks.
The goal of this stream is to be evocative of old school Yu Gi Oh, the early seasons of the anime, and New York in the late 90s.
I'll be partnering with Circavision, a production company in Wilton CT, to produce this stream. The episodes will be available live on their Twitch and also on their YouTube after the fact. The stream will feature props, costumes, and of course paid actors. There will be a casting call put out locally.
This is the breakdown of how I plan to use the money from this fundraiser:
First $3000
10% casting consultant
20% to each actor (total 40%)
20% stream director/producer
30% Game Master
The remaining $1k will go towards ridiculous props and costumes for the livestream, creating and laminating the game mat (shown below), and creating a set. Additionally, if we reach our full goal I will use the extra funds to create a website where the player's handbook and GM guide for the system will be downloadable for free.
