Our daughter’s best friend Sara Andrews lost her father unexpectedly on Monday July 26th 2021 .Sara has been part of our extended family for many years when we first met her as a tenacious soccer player on HCFCs Angry Jelly Beans team at the age of 8 years old.

Sara moved here at age 6 from Vancouver, Washington USA to live with her father in Nanaimo.Duane was a proud father. Every time I spoke with him about Sara in sports, school, or whatever she was doing he always had a big smile. He was so proud of her when she graduated high school. I remember seeing him taking pictures of her in her beautiful prom dress and then rushing back to work. He wouldn’t miss that moment for the world.

It was always just the two of them, father and daughter, living together, working together, learning, experiencing the ups and downs of life as a single father raising an only daughter. Now, she is alone.

As you can imagine, there are a lot of uncertainties for Sara. Our aim is to take away any financial burdens so she can grieve the loss of her father. She has an amazing support system around her and all we want is to make this traumatic time in her young life a little easier.
