On November 20, 2023, our lives changed forever. Our precious daughter, Draya, was struck by a stray bullet that entered our home. In a single moment, everything changed. What followed has been a journey of unimaginable heartbreak, countless hospital stays, and unwavering faith in God.

Today, Draya is fully paralyzed and requires around-the-clock care. She is wheelchair-dependent, has a tracheostomy and a feeding tube, and relies on specialized medical equipment every day to survive and receive proper care. As a result of her injury, she has also developed severe scoliosis, which has now progressed to nearly 90 degrees, creating even more medical challenges.

Since her injury, Draya has endured countless procedures, therapies, and emergency medical needs. There have been months where she has had 19 hospital visits in a single month alone. Every appointment, hospitalization, and setback reminds us that this journey is far from over.

Our family has had to completely restructure our lives to meet Draya’s needs. Mom has become Draya’s full-time caregiver and is unable to work because draya requires 24-hour care. As the only income for our family, Dad has worked tirelessly to provide for us. However, because draya’s needs continue to increase and our family also has three other children who need their father, Dad is requesting to reduce his work hours so he can help care for draya and be present for our family during this difficult season.

The financial burden has become overwhelming. Your support will help provide the specialized medical equipment and supplies draya needs, including her wheelchair, braces for her hands, feet, back, and neck, therapy equipment, medical supplies, home furnishings and accessibility items, transportation to appointments, and many of the everyday expenses that come with caring for a child with complex medical needs. Donations will also help relieve the financial strain created by the loss of income while we focus on giving draya the best care possible.

While we don’t know what tomorrow holds, we do know that God has carried us every step of the way. We continue to believe in His healing, His provision, and His perfect plan for Draya’s life.
