DRAGON STABLES - Operating Expenses

My hours have been cut at work (I work 2 jobs currently) & due to increased bills (a new vehicle, since our old one died). We are finding a hard time making ends meet our primary concern is making sure the Girls & Turtle are comfortable thru the winter. We are working on applying for full nonprofit status (Estimated October 2020 completion) for the herd. Until then the State of Oklahoma has approved us as a Charitable Organizations, our fiscal year runs April 1st through March 31st. This money will be used to provide: Vet Care to the herd; purchase hay; & with the remaining amount make improvements to the Pasture. Hay is expected to cost $2,200, the Fall Vet Visit cost $1,705 (payment plan through ScratchPay @ $171/year) Not every Thoroughbred has the ability to run in big races, & for mares who can't reproduce their fate is even more uncertain. Our sanctuary herd is with us for multiple reasons & care for some of those reasons can get costly. At some point in thier life every single one of these horses (except DAD) was only worth the $.40/pound the owner could get for them at market. All of these horses have at some point in their lives have been given meds that ban them from entering the Human Food Chain. DAD SAYS YES (2001) unsound due to unknown reason; needs a lot of weight AVA ONE (2002) unsound due to hock issues; PPID; partially blind. TIP TAP BET TE (2004) ~not evaluated~ unable to halter/possibly not trained STORM KITLES (2002) currently unsound due to arthritis resulting in swelling of rear right ankle; needs weight TURTLE (2012) Rideable but with attitude, needs to relax CLEVER NOTT (2013) Rideable on the flat only (locking stifle needs to build strength) ZEPPER (2015) needs final jaw surgery but working on saddle refresher GOODIN PUDDIN (2015) not sound due to knee chip needs surgery to remove. To rescue equiness in danger of being shipped to slaughter at area holding pens. To assist owners willing to keep their equines, by finding new homes for their equines through the Corporation’s Owner Surrender Program, as an alternative to placing their equines in a public auction or online marketplace. To educate the public through local events on proper care & maintenance of the equine family member through a lasting relationships with local equine related groups.
