Hey all!
So I’ve created this page in hopes to help Dozer get surgery.
If you don’t know Dozer he’s an awesome almost 11 year old black lab shepherd born February 19th 2010 in Rochester NY and who was rescued from Lollipop Farms Humane Society, when he was a day shy of 9 months on December 18th, 2010 when he was brought home .
(At 75 lbs may I add lol)
He’s been my active cuddle bunny sidekick all of these years from hiking to swimming, camping, biking and even the best dinner date! He also was there for me at the lowest point in my life and saved me from a huge funk by nudging me out of bed every morning for what always turned out to be the best walks...I love this dog with everything I have and this is why I’m here.
Unfortunately, last week 11/16/20 he suffered his first seizure. Last night 11/22/20 he suffered another grand mal seizure... He was rushed to a 24hr emergency hospital and then taken to a neurologist . After almost $4,000.00 in much needed scans, his MRI came back with a brain tumor aka occipital lobe mass, meningioma. I've hit a financial wall thus far and this is why I am here.
Surgery for dozer to have the tumor removed is somewhere around 6,000.00 + dollars. I've attached an estimate in his photos. He’s currently on phenobarbital to keep the seizures at bay and a steroid to keep the inflammation in his brain down. This conjunction will keep him comfortable and extremely sedated so his brain can heal.. I've started comparing our story to the notebook lol. Every 12 hours he's administered phenobarbital and at hour 10/11, right before his next dose, he comes back to me with the full puppers energy that this tumor is taking from him.... I'm also being very realistic about the situation and unfortunately, due to Dozers age and my financial struggles, I wouldn't want to put him through his other options which are radiation and chemotherapy. (A) This is something I may not have the funds to follow through with and (B) The pain of those therapies to shrink the tumor, in my opinion wouldn't be fair given his age.
Due to the pandemic I’ve lost my job and I’m a full time student who is just getting by to make ends meet.
I’m asking for any sort of donations, shares, words of encouragement (those are for me lol) or just straight positive vibes to keep this going and make it possible with the hopes that I could possibly give dozer a few more years. So many have been so generous but I want to say that these are trying times for everyone, even a dollar goes a long way and would be appreciated <3
My goal is to give dozie the best life for how ever much time he gives me and any and ALL donation will go towards that. My ultimate goal is his surgery.
Just last week we were hiking 5+ miles. He still has a pup in him and I’m confident he can push through this.
Thank you for taking the time to give this a read and I hope you can share as well!
With so much love,
Norma & Dozie ❤️
