Doug Weidner, passed away on January 11, 2015. Doug was the creator of the United States Youth Wrestling, formerly, Nebraska Youth Wrestling (http://www.usyw.org) website was very passionate about youth wrestling and sharing his love and knowledge for wrestling using his computer and information technology talents. Doug had attended OMAWA meetings since 2009, first as a representative of the Bryan Wrestling Club and then as an independant voice and advocate for youth wrestling. Doug often served as the IT consultant for OMAWA and club members. His expertise in technology and information systems was greatly valued. Most recently, Doug was a member of OMAWA’s Rebranding Committee and was instrumental in advising OMAWA on IT decisions for the future OMAWA website.
Doug was a government employee for twelve years at Offutt. He was laid off and like many unemployed Americans during the recession and he struggled briefly to find new employment. His previous health issues prevented him from getting affordable life insurance after he found new employment. The family’s loss along with the financial burdens pending will be significant for Doug’s wife Charlotte, his son Little Doug and his daughter Geneva.
