The Doomadgee NAIDOC Committee is hosting a Ball on the 8th July, along the picturesque Nicolson River, under the stars, perhaps with the odd freshwater crocodile slowly drifting by. This is a first for to remote township of Doomadgee and is creating much excitement in the community.
This is a call to action to individuals and organisations wishing to be involved with this incredible opportunity to show our love and support to our First Nations People.
We would love to attract high profile celebrities and performers to come and perform for Doomadgee!
Whether it be through donations, corporate sponsorship or celebrity endorsement, all support will go towards making this event all that it can be, and more. The more we get towards this event, the bigger and better it will be!
Estimated minimum budget
Total - $53,000
Catering and catering supplies - $25,000
Staging - $12,000
AV and lighting - $8,000
Entertainment - $8,000
And .... if funding allows, we would love to produce a documentary capturing this incredible story of generosity.
If you are a film maker, please get in touch to get involved.
Despite the challenges of this small community, Doomadgee folks and children have a special place in our heart. Empowering Women Empowering Communities has been working in Doomadgee since February 2017. We currently facilitate the Doomadgee Potters Studio, and also work closely with the Doomadgee Strong Women Group .
