Donia became homeless with her disabled cat, Monkey, in Sept 2025. She herself is severely disabled by very painful conditions like Small Fiber Neuropathy, Chronic Migraines, Endometriosis, and Severe Myalgic Encephalomyelitis, among others diagnosed by medical doctors. She's bedbound 98% of the day. Finding housing which meets her disability needs has been impossible, leading to her living in motel rooms for more than a year, and plagued by excessive noise at all hours from neighbors and traffic. All of this has caused her and Monkey’s health to further deteriorate.
Our ultimate goal is to set up a manufactured home on private property so she will have a permanent and safe place to live because every relocation has made her condition worse. Until that becomes reality, though, she needs help paying for her motel, food, medical care, and the storage of her personal belongings.
Before becoming disabled, Donia was a professional artist, an art teacher, and worked with disabled kids and other marginalized populations. Life has dealt her really rotten cards since birth, and she needs to finally have a quiet and safe place to live.
You can read more about Donia and her work around the world, her full disability story, as well as purchase her art, on her website: DoniaLilly com
Donia is navigating searching and applying for housing, trying to fundraise for herself and her sick cat, and still working to help others - all while mostly bedbound and often in too much pain to even look at a screen. She has no family nearby, though she has friends and caregivers who bring her groceries, cook her meals, clean, and handle laundry and medications, and help care for her cat, Monkey, who is a lifeline for Donia.
All of Donia's conditions are chronic; they don't go away, though some can be managed with the right care. She hasn't been able to reliably afford that care since becoming homeless. Without continued support, she has nowhere accessible to live and no way to survive without your help and this fund.
If you can donate any amount, even $5, it will help so much. Please consider a monthly recurring donation; it provides not just financial support, but predictability in an otherwise very unstable situation.
