In loving memory of Romeo Saballa Castanos, born on August 23, 1952, we gather to celebrate a life that touched ours in profound and beautiful ways. Romeo, the middle child of five, was raised in the Philippines and went on to build a life of love and dedication in Canada.
In his younger years, Romeo, together with his beloved wife Lolibeth, created a family that brought joy and purpose to his life—Paul, Michael, Kristine, and Karla. Determined to provide a better life, they moved to Canada, facing the challenges of adapting to a new country with unwavering strength.
Through hard work and resilience, Romeo found his calling as a Personal Support Worker at Peter D. Clark in Ottawa. For over two decades, he devoted himself to caring for the elderly, showcasing a level of patience and commitment that was truly remarkable. Even during the pandemic, he continued to serve, demonstrating a passion for helping others that defined his character.
Romeo's life in Ottawa brought new joy as he became a doting grandfather to Amelia and Teo. He embraced his role with enthusiasm, creating cherished memories through activities like strawberry picking, camping trips, leisurely walks, and even driving across the city to accompany dropping the kids off at daycare. Yes, even fist bumps became a way to connect.
His stubbornness, once perceived as a challenge, revealed itself as resilience and determination. It mirrored his unwavering commitment to family, especially to his lifelong love, Lolibeth. Their bond stood the test of time, proving that true love is a force that endures.
We come together to seek financial assistance for funeral expenses and to fulfill Romeo's final wish—to be reunited with his mom, dad, and brother in the Philippines. Your support will help us honour his memory and provide him with the farewell he deserves.
