On November 11, at 5pm, a University of Iowa student and member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated., Wiam Elkhalifa and her friends were driving in the highways of Dubuque, Iowa. They struck a random object sitting in the middle of the road and pulled over to the shoulder to take photos of the car’s damages. There she and another passenger were struck by a driver, immediately killing her friend and putting Wiam in critical condition. Wiam injuries include broken ribs, a pneumothorax, a broken leg, maxillofacial trauma, broken jaw, and internal bleeding. Due to these extensive injuries, Wiam is set to undergo many surgeries and will have a long road to recovery. These surgeries, along with her outpatient care and physical therapy, are a large financial burden now placed on her family. She attends college full-time, works two jobs, and does hair in order to support her basic needs. Wiam’s friends and I want to raise money to help her. Donate to help.
