Dana’s Medical Expenses
Donation protected
Hello, my name is Ruby Gillin and I'm starting this page to raise funds to cover a portion of my Mom's medical expenses.
On September 8th my mom, Dana White tripped over our dog, she sustained a cut over her right eye. She sought medical treatment and was sent home with a nasty headache and orders to rest.
Upon waking up on the morning of Sept. 9th it became clear that something was horribly wrong, with the help of a neighbor Dana was able to get herself to a nearby hospital. She was quickly transported by ambulance to the U of U hospital.
Her diagnosis astonished doctors. She had a rare bacterial infection called "Necrotizing Fasciitis" that attacks the tissue under the skin. The infection had entered through the cut above her eye and spread across her right eye, down her face, neck and chest.
The doctors needed to surgically remove all the infected tissue, in some places leaving muscle and bone exposed. For several days her outcome was unknown.
As of Oct. 4th, seven surgeries have been completed. Dana remains in the ICU for the next few months, enduring numerous operations to restore her face and chest. Her face will take a year to reconstruct and the doctors are unsure if the vision in her right eye will be restored, although they are hopeful.
Dana is a long time Park City resident who has spent the last 25 years raising a family, and building a solid career as a landscape designer. She is highly respected in her field and has added beauty to neighborhoods throughout the Park City area. She is a beautiful woman inside and out who has been an incredible mom to me and my brother.
I humbly request that people in the community and beyond consider making a donation to offset some of the costs associated with her lengthy recovery.
Please share her story and thanks in advance for your healing thoughts, meditations, or prayers on her behalf.
