Dominick Aldi has been in the fight of his life.....
After months of intensifying discomfort and symptoms in June, 2016 Dominick was diagnosed with Cirrhosis of the liver caused by his combination of medications. Dom’s health quickly declined with more health obstacles coming up along the way. By September, Dom’s liver had stopped functioning and he was told that he needed a liver transplant to live. Already reeling from the news of a necessary transplant, he began retaining fluid in his abdomen area and needed to be drained weekly to remove the infected fluid; a painful and taxing procedure every few days. As the situation began growing dire, Dom got Radiation Cystitis from prostate cancer he had five years ago, causing tremendous bladder issues. Dom’s illnesses were completely debilitating and led to more than six hospital stays in a matter of months with several near death encounters. In November as Dom’s wife Debbie continued her dedication to Dom’s care their home got flooded and they were displaced for more than a month and a half living out of a hotel. All odds were against him as our family began preparing for the inevitable. However, things changed with a call at 3AM on March 3rd. Currently, Dom is nearing sixty days in the hospital after a miraculous and successful liver transplant. His fight was not over as he battled through an aggressive infection ten days post-transplant and has been moved in and out of ICU. Slowly, with constant care and nearly a year of mental and physical trauma Dom is beginning his long and painful road to recovery at a rehab facility. With countless hospital bills, prescriptions, the costs of home repairs, and all of their resources stretched bills will soon begin to consume them even with insurance coverage. As any family can understand especially being hundreds of miles apart, life can be unbelievably overwhelming and some of those in the world deserving the most receive the worst. Anything you are willing to donate will go to Dom’s medical bills. From the bottom of our hearts our family thanks you for your generosity.
