Dollars for Don

It is with much humility that we appeal to your generosity today.  Our brother in law Don Klempka is one of the most hard working individuals we know.  For some time he and our sister Therese have been struggling financially.  Over one year ago Broome County privatized all it's food services where Don had been working for 29 years.  Although he was fortunate enough to be kept on, his salary diminished significantly, along with his benefits.  Don has a strong work ethic and has gone into work even on days when he was very ill.  He has worked many double shifts and covered for co-workers when they called out.  Our sister Therese has been on permanent disability since her car accident in 2012.
Since January of this year Don has been fighting a diabetic ulcer on the bottom of his foot.  He has had multiple doctor's appointments and changes in treatment with no success in healing.  He went to the Wound Care Center in May and was directly admitted to the hospital due to a high fever and cellulitis of his left lower leg.  A surgical consult was needed due to peripheral vascular disease in his left foot.  Don has been out of work his May 2, 2017.  He had vascular bypass surgery on his left leg on May 10th.  The surgeon said there was a 50 % chance he could lose his leg.  The surgeon could not close the incision due to the cellulitis.  Don now has a staph infection in his surgical wound, and is on two IV antibiotics daily.  He is still currently in the hospital without a discharge date.  He will eventually go home with needing nursing visits to perform wound care and administer IV's.  The wound on Don's leg and the ulcer on the bottom of his foot could take approximately 6 months or longer to heal.  Don will not be able to return to work, until he is completely rehabilitated, putting his job at risk.  Don's insurance premiums have been impossible to keep up with.  We are looking for assistance to help with mounting medical costs, co-pays, medications, etc.
Our family has been trying to help Therese and Don for some time and would greatly appreciate anything you can do to help with this endeavor.
