We had a Great Dane unexpectedly land in our group and he's in desperate need of surgery.
We have been working diligently to raise the funds to cover his urgent medical costs and time isn't on our side with his needs.
If you have the time, we would love to introduce you to a very special Dane.
This is Diego, he's a 5 year old dane with a personality that is as big as he is and believe it or not, his heart is even bigger! He seems otherwise healthy and very eager to live.
We believe that he has lived in Montgomery, for the past 5 years with a family that I'm sure he loved as his own.
He and his family fell victim to the recent flooding. After an injury and news of expensive surgery, he was ultimately taken to the shelter.
We were called the following morning and he immediately "tagged for rescue." Unbeknownst to us, his injuries were far worse than anyone had anticipated.
The back of his leg appeared to be severed nearly half way through. His leg dangled and was at times dragging behind him.
Even with this injury, he was eager to cuddle, love and even "shake" to greet everyone.
We assumed that the injury was only a few days old due to the color, lack of infection and little to no dead tissue. After further research, we discovered that it had not occurred 2-3 days ago, but it had been more than 2 weeks that this sweet Dane had been in this condition.
The previous owner had taken him to the vet, found out the severity of the injury and couldnt afford to help him.
This beautiful Dane is a much needed dose of positivity that has filled many with hope.
Unfortunately our small vet is not equipped to repair this type of damage and suggested we find a specialist.
I have been working relentlessly to obtain funding for his surgery. We would be extremely grateful for your help in sucuring the best care for this Dane!
Thank you for caring and thank you for sharing!!!
