Desperate Food Need in Tondo Philippines Slum

Donation protected
A desperate need for food has quickly arisen within the large Tondo slum, in north Manila of the Philippines.  In "normal" times, a large portion of the families live on what they can "scavenge" from garbage which is dumped nearby.  They either use or sell what they find.
Due to the coronavirus, the Philippine government is preventing almost all of the people in the greater Manila area from going out of their neighborhoods.   The people of Tondo cannot go to where they normally scavenge garbage.  Thus, they have no income!  For the past couple weeks, the roughly 2500 families there have been selling what little possessions they have to exist.  Food is very scarce.
My friend, Pastor Roy Malpas, has ministered in Tondo more than 25 years.  Their little church normally has regular Sunday morning services, Bible studies, youth discipleship, a small elementary school, and outreaches to children (including a weekly soup feeding program).
I have known Pastor Roy and his family since 2015.  I have been to the Tondo slum twice to pray for the community and to help with their weekly feeding and Bible  teaching of the children.   Pastor Roy and his family have sacrificially given their lives to care for as many of the people of Tondo as they possibly can (especially the children).
Normally, the people in the church give small donations to support Pastor Roy's family and the weekly feeding of the children.  But, now, the people are not able to give anything--PLUS, the children are not receiving much, if any, food at home.  So, the need for feeding of the children by the church has gone from weekly to every other day, or every day.  The parents and youth in Tondo need food too!
Pastor Roy and other leaders of their church cannot possibly feed all the families in Tondo.  But, they are hopeful to feed several hundred children every couple days.  Plus, they want to take pots of soup throughout some of the slum, and offer hope wherever it is most desperately needed.
This is an opportunity for the love of Jesus to be clearly demonstrated in a very needy part of the world.  Hopefully, the virus will be abated there soon, and the Tondo residents can resume their scavenging.  The $2,000 budget of this campaign is meant to be a Godly stopgap.  As funds are given for this need, the portion that Pastor Roy needs each week will be sent to him.
A photo from one of the recent feedings is attached.  It doesn't show the long line of children that normally receive food, or the large quantities of garbage that are everywhere in their community.
I am a minister in the greater Seattle area of Washington State.  I have traveled to the Philippines four times since 2014 to talk about Jesus with and pray with pastors there.  I communicate regularly with Pastor Roy, and our family regularly supports him and his ministry.
Thank you for your prayers and financial support.  Whether you can give or not to this need, would you please share it on your Facebook account?
