Destiny Rawls-Brooks passed away on July 28, 2019. Destiny, affectionately known as Mama D, was a thriving entrepreneur, restaurateur, mother, wife, friend and community activist. Destiny passed away suddenly after discovering an aggressive form of cancer a couple of weeks ago. Her family is absolutely devastated from this loss and are asking for your support to give Destiny a Homegoing celebration/funeral and cover medical expenses.
Destiny owned and operated Mama D's Kitchen, the first soul food restaurant located inside of the Midtown Global Market in Minneapolis, Minnesota. She was known for her exuberant smile, energetic spirit, and delectable cuisine. She filled the hearts and stomachs of all her customers with good down-home soul food and genuine vibes. Anyone who knows Destiny can attest to her go-getter attitude and through her business, Destiny employed local youth and provided jobs for many in the community.
