A Fresh Start for The Winger's
Donation protected
Derrick and Ollie are running out of time. 1000 in donations 3000 to go. Because of your help he's a fourth of the way to a deposet, first months rent and a working car thank you so much for your help. But now they're running out of couch space and running out of options. He will be able to maintain rent after he gets in to a place. His pay from his new job is covering food, bus fair and a bit to towards replacing items lost in the flood. Derrick is trying to keep Ollie's attention on school and a wonderful new bedroom but the more time passes the harder it gets. Ollie is lossing his child like faith. Please help. They are almost home. Thank you!
The Way it Happened
After eight years of service, Derrick found himself unemployed at Christmas time. As a dedicated single father the thought was devastating but he pulled through, paid rent and with help from a friend he had a merry little Christmas for his ten year old son, Ollie. Two weeks later, still struggling to recover from the short time without pay disaster struck again. He came home from his night job to find they're home flooded with four inches of freezing water from pipes of the apartment above him. Both apartments are uninhabitable. Derrick and Ollie are now homeless and have been without transportation relying on public buses to get around. Ollie is a phenomenal student but the stress is beginning to affect him. The cold trek to Ollie's school in the morning is unforgiving. Derrick walks forty minutes to his job then forty minutes back in the dark. Nightly reading time is done on someone else s couch instead of in Ollie's bed, homework is where ever they can find a spot. They have no place for clothes or books or to make meals, no place to belong and no way to find a new home and get back to living. So much was lost or damaged in the flood.
Derrick and Ollie want to be able to have a working car and enough money to get into a new home. They deserve a better start. Derrick would do anything for anyone. His kindness is unmatched but fore the love of his son Ollie. Please know that any help is appreciated.
