"Peace perfects when hearts unite"
As I sit here patiently waiting for the sloppy glue to take hold and mend the pieces of this broken mug together, I reflect on the cliché, yet pertinent message this process unfolded to me.
I found the pieces of my favorite mug on the counter a week or so ago. I let it sit and tried to ignore the fact that it actually broke. I didn't want it to be broken so I tried to ignore reality. As the days went on, I was faced with the decision to piece it back together or give up and throw it away... I decided to start the mending process and see what happened. I got out the gorilla glue and started with the handle. I let it sit for a few days to completely set. It was time to attach it back to the main body of the mug. It slipped more than once. Life was continuing to happen around this mug, and I didn't have time to fix it. I tried again a day later and the handle again fell and broke worse than before, so I gave up. I threw away the pieces...
Until compassion was shown to me. Someone who knew I needed help pulled the pieces from the trash and said "don't give up!" She assisted in holding my broken pieces together long enough for me to keep it together and mend my mug... My "peace perfects" mug...
Those visible cracks will remain as a constant reminder ~ that we all have moments of being broken.
The sloppy glue will remain as a constant reminder ~ that sometimes we need help from our loved ones to hold our broken pieces together.
The mug will remain forever, in its perfect imperfection as a constant reminder ~ that PEACE PERFECTS WHEN HEARTS UNITE.
Denise has spent a great portion of her life caring for everyone around her... Holding their pieces patiently together with love, courage, optimism and compassion. Her genetic health history has brought her to a point in her life where it's time for us to pull the pieces out and assist in holding her together, the way she would do for us, while she mends. The financial burden of medical bills have added to the stress of needing a double mastectomy, reconstructive surgery and hysterectomy all to happen within the next few months. It pains her to no end that the reality of the situation is that she needs everyone's help ~ physically, mentally, emotionally... And financially. Please join all of us in being Denise's "gorilla glue". Every $1 will assist in bringing her peace as we all unite to hold her together.
