Hello, everyone.
It is with a heavy heart that I am writing yet another Go Fund Me for this year. First, it was for my nephew for his heart condition. Now, it’s for my mother, age 46.
Since November of 2022, she has developed a lasting and progressive cough. With the diagnosis of her previous P.A., it was assumed to be a long-haul COVID symptom. In May 2023, she started to feel a pressure building near her lungs and abdomen , making it harder to breathe and even consume food. The pressure built to the point that she needed to head to the ER, with a resting heart rate of over 110 BPM. On May 18th, she was admitted to the hospital for further testing where she was told that she has a pretty sizable tumor on her kidney and there was fluid building in her abdomen and chest cavity, causing her lung to collapse.
The PET scan showed the kidney tumor has spread onto her adrenal gland, there was metastatic seeding in her omentum, and metastic ascites (cancerous fluid) in both the abdomen and chest cavity. It had became necessary that she go in weekly (sometimes twice weekly) for thoracentesis where they drained the fluid from her chest cavity. Since, they have placed a catheter in her chest cavity to be able to drain at home. As for her abdomen, she is having that drained (paracentesis) 1-2x per week for the foreseeable future until (hopefully!!!) the immunotherapy does the trick with the goal of killing cancer and all the symptoms it’s producing. Procedures are painful very taxing.
Her official diagnosis is stage 4 renal cancer with metastatic cancer showings. The plan of treatment for the moment will be immunotherapy to see how that affects the cancerous cells. Right now she spends her days in bed resting and sleeping. Her appetite has become nearly negligible, making it difficult to eat. She has lost over 25 lbs and the pain level they are just trying to manage for some quality of life. This has all come on so quickly and is very aggressive.
The money that is donated to my mother will be used to manage treatment options (such as immunotherapy, kidney removal, etc.), allow my father to continue to provide for their family as he takes more time off to help, and ensure that they can continue to eat a healthy diet to stave off the cancer.
No one expected that someone who lives a non-toxic, organic lifestyle to get late stage cancer at age 46. She is vibrant, active, jovial, and lights up every room that she is in. This diagnosis came by shock to everyone, so any donations, prayers, or love is greatly appreciated.
“The Lord sustains them on their sickbed and restores them from their bed of illness” (King James Bible, 2023) is Psalm 41:3 that represents the faith that our family has in her restoration in healing, to live a long and thriving life.
