Debi Canfield passed away from a 7 year cancer battle on May 7th, 2023 at 11:50pm. She was loved by many and this is for those who want to do something in her memory.
Debi’s favorite place was the Rose Garden that lays in front of the Santa Barbara Mission and while not being able to make it there for the last few years, I, her daughter Elise, was able to video chat with her a week before her passing so she could see all the gorgeous roses during the super bloom.
The Rose Garden in Santa Barbara was never missed during our family vacations or overnighters when her and my dad visited Southern California for various reasons. Our family vacationed in Santa Barbara almost annually as it was our favorite destination for the five of us and we were often joined by her parents or friends as well.
In my Mom’s memory, I thought getting a bench donated with a plaque in her favorite place by family and friends would be the perfect way to honor her. Anyone who visited the rose garden could find her bench and know they were in the right spot. The bench takes 8-12 weeks, but when it is ready there will be a 3-4 week notice so that anyone who wants to can come join us for the bench revealing and be apart of spreading her ashes. Any amount would be appreciated, but don’t feel obligated to do so. All will still be welcomed to share the moment with us in the fall. Any money leftover from the bench donation event will be given to the Colon Cancer Alliance.
