Help Fund Debbie’s Care after ALS diagnosis
Donation protected
My name is Grace. I am 29 years old and in April 2021 my mother, Debbie, was diagnosed with ALS. After working for more than 25 years as a minister and hospital chaplain, this diagnosis brought the career she loved to a sudden halt. A great lover of music and the outdoors, she has also lost her ability to play her guitar or hike the mountains of her beautiful East Tennessee home. A strong and self-reliant spirit, the loss of her independence has been a real challenge for Debbie. There is no treatment for ALS, however with the help of a team of ALS specialists, caregivers, and community, she still plans on living her life to the fullest. Please help us fund the around the clock nursing care that Debbie needs.
Debbie currently lives with her mother. Even with this companionship and a rotating team of caregivers helping with daily tasks, she requires assistance beyond what Medicaid can cover. We want to make it possible for Debbie to live on her own, outside of a care facility, so she can maintain autonomy and a sense of independence, but we need help.
With all the uncertainty that comes along with a terminal diagnosis such as this, we want to remove at least one question--the question of where she will receive the care she needs.
