#DeFriestStrong Brain Cancer Fund

Bobby DeFriest, a 19-year-old hockey player, has recently been diagnosed with a rare form of brain cancer. He had experienced a headache for several weeks, with no improvement after several medications from doctors. He was instructed to receive an MRI. Upon results of the MRI, doctors found a mass in the pineal gland of his brain. His symptoms got worse as time went on and after further examination, he was diagnosed with hydrocephalus (a buildup of cerebrospinal fluid in the cavities of the brain). He was informed he would need chemotherapy and radiation therapy. Shortly after this diagnosis, Bobby suffered a major setback. On July 13th, Bobby was at home resting and expected to start his treatments the following week when he suffered a brain hemorrhage as well as suffering from seizures. Bobby was rushed to the hospital for emergency brain surgery, before being airlifted to Nicklaus Children’s Hospital. 

As you can imagine, the cost of medical expenses for something this serious is an issue for anyone. This fundraiser is for Bobby and his family in hopes to raise enough money to ease the financial burden that comes with such a diagnosis. Please consider making a donation to Bobby and his family. Robert Carter DeFriest Jr. is one of the most fun-loving and caring kids who has a positive impact on all of those who he meets. He, nor anyone, ever deserves to have to go through this process.. He has been playing hockey since he was just two years old. He has played for teams all around the country. Even winning the 5 Nations Tournament in Europe for USA Hockey. Throughout the years he has made friendships that will last a lifetime. Some he even considers family. His support system expands far beyond the hockey world. His family is very important to him, having loving parents, grandparents and amazing sisters. All in all, one of the most amazing people you'll ever meet in your life. You can ask anyone and they will agree. His smile lights up a room and his personality is a 10/10. His compassion and bravery are truly inspiring. He is a warrior to say the least. It is painful to see such an amazing person go through something this hard.
