David’s Recovery from Motorcycle Accident
Grandmother Diana Repp and Aunt Jennifer Lee are setting up a GoFundMe for the family of David Simpson, Emma Emery and Blake Simpson as a result of David being seriously injured in a motorcycle accident a couple of weeks ago.
Anyone who's ever met David knows him as full of energy, full of life, always smiling, and always ready to hug you on the spot - giving you the best hug you will ever receive. His greatest loves are his family and friends, particularly oozing love for his fiancé Emma and their 2 year old daughter Blake, his "princess".
Two weeks ago, Emma watched David leave their driveway on his motorcycle. Shortly after he left, Emma heard sirens. Having a sick feeling that she had never had before, Emma checked the GPS locator on her phone to see if David had reached his destination, and saw that his route had stopped. She called to check on him...no answer. She tried to call him several more times, each time resulting in the same...no answer. She threw Blake in their truck and rushed to where the GPS had stopped. When she arrived, her worst nightmare had come to life. David was being loaded into an ambulance as a result of a horrific motorcycle/vehicle collision.
David was taken to McLaren Port Huron and then shortly after transported to McLaren Macomb. He suffered several injuries, a brief description including a brain bleed, several broken bones and a very badly cut and bruised body, literally from head to toe. He has undergone surgeries due to his many injuries. He currently has no feeling or movement from the elbow down in one of his arms.
Emma has been by his side almost 24 hours a day, and only left the hospital when she was kicked out. David has returned home, with the help and care of Emma, which at times is a not so easy task. David and Emma put on a very brave face for company but the pain is constant and his care exhausting. Neither one of them ever complaining.
At 23 years old, both David and Emma have been working hard to provide for their little family. David works construction and Emma is a dental assistant. This past Spring they purchased their first house. They are extremely proud of it, and have been putting their heart and soul into making it a beautiful home.
Their #1 pride and joy though, is their precious baby Blake. Blake has been David's "princess" from the minute she was born and is the apple of his eye. Sadly, Blake knows her Daddy is badly injured. She will tell you, "Daddy...vroom...boo boo." Even two weeks later she is concerned about her Daddy saying, "Daddy...boo boo...arm."
David's family feels very blessed that he is alive. However, we know that the next few weeks, months and years will be tough - physically, emotionally and financially. Family members wanted to start this GoFundMe campaign asap, but Emma's main concern was David's immediate state of health. Now, after a couple weeks of sleepless nights, David is asking for help. He told us he lays in bed at night worrying about being able to provide for Emma and Blake. He worries their savings will rapidly decrease without his wages, incoming medical bills, the need for medical supplies, as well as missed wages for Emma due to her taking him to medical appointments and therapies.
The evidence of David's constant pain, lifeless arm, cuts, bruises, slings, wraps, worry and lack of sleep are very present to family and friends that come to visit. This picture of David is a far cry from his usual happy eyes, bright smile and tight warm hug that would typically greet them. It is heartbreaking. His remarkable spirit is being saddened by the uncertainty of his future.
Bottom line: David needs our help. Please help us to keep David and his beautiful girls financially stable for the next few months as they wait to see what their future holds. Help us to give him peace-of-mind so he can work towards getting better; to help him focus on healing and getting feeling back in his arm; to help make it easier for Blake's Daddy to concentrate on healing his boo boos. Please join us in helping three of the most loving souls we know.
If you are unable to donate, please keep David, Emma and Blake in your prayers. Our God is an awesome God. He heals and listens to our prayers. Every donation and prayer is very much appreciated, and we thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
Love and thanks,
Diana and Jennifer
