Give Hope David's Cancer Treatment

Donation protected
In October of 2016 my uncle, David T. Wallace, Sr. received two shocking diagnoses: Renal cell carcinoma (Kidney Cancer, stage 4) that metastasized into the lung, and a separate diagnosis of Squamous cell carcinoma (Lung Cancer, stage 3).  Initially, there were numerous long traveled and expensive trips to Memorial Slone Kettering Cancer Center, in New York City, for testing and treatment planning.  Finally, in January 2017 my uncle elected to begin treatments at Wilmot Cancer Center in Rochester, New York.  Thus far, my uncle has undergone a course of radiation to his lung region, in addition to bi-weekly immunotherapy infusions-a relatively new, cutting-edge form of treatment as compared to traditional chemotherapy.  The doctors are hopeful in the treatment of the lung cancer.  However, the prognosis for the kidney cancer is that is incurable; but the immunotherapy treatments may be helpful in preventing its progression.

The disease itself and treatments have left my uncle feeling quite tired and unable to work his full-time job, at McCauley Mountain Center, in Old Forge, New York where he has been employed for over 17 years.  Being unable to work has caused tremendous financial stress on my tenacious uncle, who takes great pride in being a hard worker. He has tirelessly and honorably served his country and community, nearly all his working life, most notably as a member of the United States Navy, the Old Forge Volunteer Fire Department, and the New York State Police (Trooper).  My uncle and his loving wife, my aunt, Sue Ann Lorenz-Wallace are doing what they can to ‘make ends meet’ during this extraordinarily tough time. But the ever-mounting medical bills, co-payments for Doctors visits, treatments, medications, travel expenses, and day-to-day bills all add up when you live on a fixed income (and are no longer collecting a paycheck).

I ask that if you are able to donate any amount to help my uncle David during this time of need, it is so very much appreciated.  These funds are urgently needed and will be used to pay for ongoing travel expenses to and from Rochester, NY where he is currently receiving on-going cancer treatments,  co-payments for doctors visits, treatments, medications, and living expenses while my uncle is unable to work.  Many thanks for any and all good thoughts, prayers, and blessings sent his way.

With much gratitude,
Michelle N. LaDue
