Hello,
My name is Stephen Teal, I'm a firefighter-paramedic, a friend & family to David and Robin Halbert. I'm starting this page to help David Halbert and his family as they struggle with his new diagnosis. these devastating diseases, Parkinson's and now dementia. I'm calling on anyone and everyone, all communities, all friends and families, to help David and his family with your donations, prayers, and please, please share this page with everyone you know or come in contact with. All donations and prayers are humbly and sincerely appreciated.
Please help this family, show them compassion in this dark time, their time of need. The emotional and financial pressures are overwhelming. The medical costs are building up quickly.
In July, David and his family had their world turned upside down. Their lives were shattered when David was diagnosed not with one disease but with two. He was diagnosed with Parkinson's and dementia.
David is currently in a rehabilitation facility. He's being treated for a broken right shoulder, and they are trying to help him with his ability to walk. The facility is extremely costly, and insurance only covers a portion of his physical therapy. His wife is expected to cover $1200.00 a month. This is making it impossible for her to pay for their home or to pay for food, electric, and even medicine.
Robin, David's wife, visits daily to help keep him calm, to encourage him, and to help with his therapy.
Unexpectedly, their car, the only form of transportation they have, blew a timing chain and destroyed the engine. Talk about adding unbelievable stress to an already stressful situation. She now has to depend on others to get her there and home, if anyone is available. They desperately need a safe, dependable, used SUV on top of everything else.
David's wife is determined to bring him home. He will need physical therapy and nursing care. The doctors believe David would do much better with his therapies if he was in familiar surroundings, and this could possibly help slow down his dementia.
In the few hours Robin spends at the house, she doggedly works on making it safe for David with what little money they have. She's just as determined to bring David home even if he's in a wheelchair.
David has always lent a helping hand to others whenever needed, even if it meant using his own equipment and paying for fuel, and doing the work for free, always helping others in their time of need. Well, now he's in dire need of our help.
Please let's all come to help him and Robin in their time of need. Any donation will help. Prayers, kind words, and everyone sharing this page with others will be greatly appreciated. Here's your chance to show the world our strengths and abilities, to show unconditional love and compassion to this family in need.
Donations will go directly towards:
* David's extensive medical care
* Counseling for both of them
* Transportation
* His daily needs
* Any additional physical therapy
* And Home health
Thank you sincerely for your support & compassion. We are raising funds to help this determined family get through their rough times, to show them that hope and compassion still exist today. And if you're unable to donate, please keep them in your prayers and please, please everyone share this page with anyone and everyone. Together we can make a world of difference for them. We can ease a lot of their burdens and help David get the physical therapy he so desperately needs.
Humbly and sincerely, thank you so very much. Your kindness, prayers, donations, and sharing this page with others is a blessing they greatly need.
Monday 9/29/25 Heres a quick update. David and the entire hallway where he's staying are all covid positive. David a week ago was found to be unresponsive to normal stimuli and his breath sounds were bad. They thought he might have aspirated. He was sent to the ER. There they found him to be covid positive and thought to have possibly aspirated. They poured the strong antibiotics to him. Later that day he finally responded to the nursing staff. While cleaning him up the nursing staff discovered a seriously bad bed sore approximately 3 inches by about 3 inches. Davids family want him to come home. They need certain medical equipment first before he comes home. Again we ask of your help. Please share this story with others. Know that your donations make a major difference for this family. The sooner they get the equipment the sooner he gets to come home, where they will attempt to get home health. They found out at the hospital that none of the home health agencies will accept his insurance so they will have to pay out of pocket for home health and wound care plus all the other medical bills continue to pile up. We sincerely thank all that have prayed, shared this gofundme page and those that have donated. Thank you but we're nowhere near done. Come help a worthy cause!
