Hello, I am Kristina, Elaina's sister.

As you may know David Shabani lost his battle with stage 4 prostate cancer on Tuesday September 5th 2023. The impact that David has left on our lives will forever remain in our hearts. We are touched how many of you have been reaching out asking how you can help.

David expressed a wish for any donations to go directly to St Jude Children’s Hospital, a charity near and dear to him.

Obituary

In loving memory of David Shabani.

David was the owner of Sambuca Bistro which was established in Laguna Niguel over a decade ago. It was quite successful thanks to our supportive local community and to the dedication of its owners David and Elaina.

David was born in Iran and worked in restaurants around the world, including 8 years in Germany, before moving to California. His passions extended beyond cooking. His generosity and kindness helped so many. He was the type to give you the shirt off his back. He loved to meet the needs of anyone who asked and did so many times, even to those who didn’t ask.

His memory will live on in us all and he will be deeply deeply missed.

David is survived by his parents, friends, and family in Iran, his son Raffael, and his partner Elaina.

The reception will be on Sunday, October 15, 5-7pm at Knoll Restaurant in Laguna Niguel.
