Help needed for David Kiefel in ICU with JEV

I have set up this fund for Jacquelene and her husband David.

Some of you may know, David has been fighting for his life for over 2 weeks since contracting the mosquito born virus, Japanese encephalitis virus. (JEV)

 

This virus is found in pigs ( also affecting horses and some bird species) and transferred to humans.

 

Although this is being played down, most media reports are portraying this virus as no more severe than a head ache or lethargy, my friend David is fighting for his life.

As I write this, we are still unsure if David will survive and if so what quality of life he will have. He has been on life support for over 2 weeks after what seemed like suffering a stroke. Many tests were done and a week later confirmed it was JEV.

 

The Drs at Albury base and now The Alfred ( after being transferred by air) are working tirelessly to find a course of treatment for David. Jacquelene will require much support, David was her full time caregiver as she suffers from a debilitating autoimmune disease.

My aim is to raise some immediate funds to get some basic household chores done, hire a cleaner, gardener etc. Jacquelene will also require assistance with funds to travel to and from Melbourne to The Alfred Hospital and accommodation costs while there.

 

Jacquelene is a proud person and would never ask for assistance, so I’m asking…. Please I beg you all to have David and Jacque in your thoughts and offer as much as you can.
