My name is Dave Turner, I am Tara's husband. For those that know me you know how proud I am to be David Mawhinney's son in-law. Dave is a great man with a full history and a lasting legacy within his sons Tavis and Bryce and his little girl Tara.
David & Bonnie Mawhinney are living saints in my eyes. I have witnessed time after time random acts of kindness and generosity beyond their means. They have opened their doors to complete strangers when in need and will give their last dollar and go hungry so you won’t. Witnessing this at first I thought they were crazy, now it makes me strive to be a better person. The unfortunate reality for these great people is their kindness and willingness to trust all has seen many people take advantage of their kind hearts financially and has left them with nothing but their love for family and God.
We recently found out that cancer has invaded Dave's body and he does not have much time left. Dave is being well cared for by family and friends on Pender Island where they recently moved to. Ferry costs and travel expenses are adding up but are necessary for Dave as we all try to make him as comfortable as possible.
I am putting this fund raiser together to help ease the pain that is attached to this unexpected and unwanted disease. Any amount will help Dave and our family with the cost of care over the coming weeks and with the daunting tasks after the battle. We are strong in our faith that we will get through this but the unfortunate reality of financial stress looms and is making this horrible situation worse.
