I am suffering from a debilitating disease known as Multiple System Atrophy with Parkinsonism. There is no cure for it and it is terminal. Life expectation is different for each patient. I am confined to a bed or in my motorized wheelchair. I am able to use Handi. Dart but there hours are very restrictive. I cannot stand on my own or transfer into our own car. We face two options get a wheel chair equipped van. It has to have raised roof like a Ford Transit or Dodge 2500(Sprinter). The second option would be to buy an apparatus a Millward Chair Lift which may provide an option to lift me into our own car. There are some restrictions that make it impractical for me.Otherwise we will have trade our vehicle for one of the vehicles mentioned above and have it equipped. When I am done my journey my wife or son will get her a car for her personal use and make the vehicle available to someone else who can use it.
