GARRISON, Darrin Evan, age 51, Burton, MI, passed away Tuesday, May 25, 2021, after a hard fight against pancreatic cancer (twice). A memorial dinner will be held at 6 PM, Thursday, June 10, 2021, at Richfield Park, 6322 N. Irish Road, Davison, MI Darrin was born in Flint, MI on Christmas Eve December 24, 1969. He referred to himself as a carpenter as he was a “jack of all trades” and was an avid outdoorsman, hunter and fisherman. He is survived by the love of his life, Carmen, and their three boys, Aiden (14), Cecil (10) and Liam (9), his sister, DeAna (Garrison) Wood of Parma, Missouri, her husband Chris, and children Christopher and Morgan. His father, Jim Garrison, his stepbrothers, Rob, Jeff and Steve Nuckolls, his Aunt, Tammy Garrison, and cousins Kim (Garrison) Eaton, and Heidi (Garrison) Molyneux. Darrin was preceded in death by his grandparents, Gilbert F. Garrison (1980) and Verna Lee (Lovegrove) Garrison (1989), Uncle Gary E. Garrison (1988), his adoptive mother, Maxine McCurter (2015) and Carmen’s mother, Penny Lynn (Tyler) Pruett (2019).
The last 4 months have taken an extremely sad turn. My cousin Darrin Garrison is currently in the end stages of pancreatic/lymph node cancer and is only expected to be around for less than six months. It’s hard to put that in writing!
Darrin is a five+ year survivor of pancreatic cancer and in 2016 he had the survey called “whipple” that removed the head of the pancreas, duodenum, bile ducts, gall bladder, a portion of the stomach as well as the surrounding (40 + ) lymph nodes.
Earlier this year the cancer returned in his lymph nodes and pancreas and has taken over his entire body with excruciating pain He just spent over 4 weeks at U of M where he was not allowed any visitors or emotional support while getting all of this bad news. Now that he is home they face the challenges of fighting with pharmacies and the costs of the medications needed to keep his pain down to a level where he can sleep or eat
Darrin has not been able to work since January due to the cancer and his wife isn’t working due to a car accident and she is taking care of Darrin, their 3 children (two are still remote learning due to COVID).
Darrin graduated from Grand Blanc in 1988 and attended Western Michigan - and many of my friends know him and the hard life he’s endured. Just when we all get happily reconnected this happens
Any amount can help Darrin and his family and all money will go to his medical costs and bills around his home care
Thank you
