Help Dark Mother Co Fly to a Blue State!

My name is Lauren, and I’m the owner of a small business named Dark Mother Co in Arizona, and we were established in 2019, but I have been here my entire life of 33 years.

With the recent election, and not having community, nor family that align with us and our values, we are looking to move our business to Massachusetts, Vermont, or Washington. We have two daughters who, in a red state, are at risk of protections and our bodily autonomy being stripped from us, and our school systems are also heavily influenced by those who cannot separate church and state.

This state and its current political demographic it also does not give us the ability to feel confident opening a physical location or expanding our business experience without exposing ourselves to regular hatred as a goth owned business in a red state.

We currently have a home to sell to aid us in this move slightly, however we would need to get debts settled to improve our credit, and create financial cushion for career stability as we get our business set up, and for my husband to find new employment in this transition.

I wish I wasn’t serious about this, I wish I had enough money for us to move on our own, as we are a family that often doesn’t enjoy asking for help, but we are tired and and cannot do it anymore or be around people that would wish to see us fail or not care about our overall wellbeing. We’re tired of feeling trapped in a state we were born in and are trying by any means necessary to change our circumstances.
