Dear Family and Friends,
I have recently been accepted to study abroad at John Cabot Univeristy in Rome, Italy. I will be studying there the spring 2017 and the program dates are January 11-May 6. I am incredibly excited to learn to live on my own in a foreign country and navigate through the streets of Rome!
The School of Hospitality and Tourism Management at San Diego State requires its students to study abroad and I truly believe in the difference an international experience can make. In the hospitality industry, we interact with people of many diverse backgrounds. By studying abroad and learning about the culture and customs of different countries, I will be better prepared to enter the hospitality workforce. Studying abroad will benefit me academically and professionally.
Being a first-generation college student, I was very hesitant and nervous to leave my family behind for a semester long program. However, I decided the best way for me to learn and grow from an international experience is to leave the familiarity of home. My parents have never let me forget why I am pursuing a higher education and have been very encouraging and supportive through this process.
However, we could all use YOUR help. Your donations to my account will be applied toward the costs of tuition and housing. Not only will you be financially supporting me, but you will be supporting the life long dream of a first-generation student. Any dollar amount would be helpful and greatly appreciated by me and my family.
