A few weeks ago, Daphne started feeling some numbness and tingling in her feet that quickly progressed to the point she had to be rushed to the ER by her daughter Rebecca.
Daphne soon learned that she had Guillain-Barre syndrome, a rare disorder in which your body's immune system attacks your nerves.  What starts out as weakness and tingling in your extremities quickly becomes total paralysis!
Though Guillain-Barre has no cure, most people recover, though some experience lingering effects.
Daphne is off the ventilator and has been transferred to a rehab hospital for physical and occupational therapy.
Daphne is a single mom (and grandmother) and we created this page to help with the medical expenses that Daphne is facing.  Because Guillain-Barre affects nerves, it takes time to recover and lots of therapy.  As you can well imagine, even with medical insurance, there are co-pays, deductibles and co-insurance on top of the regular household expenses that Daphne will need to keep up with while not having her sole income as support.
