On December 2, 2025, my brother Danny received the greatest gift of all from an amazing organ donor—a new, healthy liver. After being on the National Registry for just a few weeks, Danny was blessed with a life-saving transplant. The surgery went incredibly well, and his new liver is thriving. Danny needed this transplant due to cancer and other serious liver diseases, and we are so grateful for this second chance at life.

However, after spending over 43 days in the hospital, Danny’s Medicare coverage has been depleted. He is now heading home, but the journey is far from over. Danny will need in-home Occupational and Physical Therapy, a full-time health aide, and a variety of special medical equipment to support his recovery. This includes IV equipment, a wheelchair, Hoya lift, intercom system, bed alarm, walker, protective coverings, 17+ medications, nutritional supplements to help him regain the 45 pounds lost during surgery, a shower chair, and more. The costs are overwhelming, and both Danny and his wife Wendy—who has been his absolute rock—are facing this challenge with courage and hope.
