Help Daniel Achieve His University Dream

Donation protected
Help fulfill Jim's dream of sending his son Daniel to university in the US.

Just as Danny began to receive acceptance letters from colleges in California, Jim unexpectedly passed away.

About Jim: Many receiving this outreach knew and loved Jim Hickman, a citizen diplomacy leader in the USSR for 30 years and more recently a board member at Ubiquity University, where he also taught classes on neuroscience. Jim had been living in Bolivia with his wife, Marcela, and their son, Danny, for nearly two decades.

One way to continue honoring Jim's life and work is to support Danny in achieving his university goals.

About Danny: Danny was born in California. He attended school in Bolivia and graduated from AISB in 2023 with top marks on his IB Diploma, which is one of the most rigorous high school academic programs in the world.

With the goal of helping others, Danny has been studying Psychology at the Catholic University in Cochabamba, Bolivia since 2024. However, he and Jim always had the goal of Danny graduating from a university in the US that would truly challenge him and open up new opportunities.

Current situation: With Jim's sudden passing, Danny's family is facing unexpected expenses, which makes the cost of sending him to college overseas even more difficult than it already was.

We're all still rooting for Danny to go back to his birthplace to earn his bachelor's degree. Danny has a US passport and citizenship, as well as a close connection to his California family, who has graciously offered their home for his lodging needs. An outstanding applicant, he was also awarded a partial Dean's Scholarship.

The costs that remain include a car to commute, car insurance, food, textbooks, and air travel from Bolivia, all on top of his out-of-state undergraduate tuition.

Danny's words: "To me, my dad was hope. Each and every one of his life experiences taught him to be optimistic and positive, which resonated with me, as even in our most turbulent times, his hope never faltered. Because of that, he was decided to send me to study in the U.S, as he fought his hardest to provide me with the best education possible.

My ultimate goal is to, through my profession, help other people overcome their troubles and continuously evolve and become the best version of themselves. I know that perfection can’t be achieved, but striving to reach that goal and helping others to do so is my mission in life."

How you can help: Together, we hope to raise $75k to make Danny and Jim’s dream a reality. Whether it's $25 or $25,000, every gift matters and will support Danny's family through this delicate time.
