Dan's SUP World Championship fund
I began SUP racing almost 2 years ago after my daughter Melia picked up the sport of stand up paddling, and began training in San Diego with the "Elite SUP Team". I first began with my son laying on my board and would paddle all over to stay busy while she trained. I did a few races and eventually I improved more and more. I trained every night at the lake, or in the bay and continued to improve.
In April of 2017 I came up to Canada to work until I got into a permanent position back in the US, and one weekend I decided to drive 16 hours from Calgary to Tofino, BC to compete in the Canadian SUP championships. I came 2nd place in a strong field of athletes while there and was asked to compete in the ISA (International Surf Association) World Championship in Copenhagen this fall! I am exstatic about this opportunity and I plan to train and diet 110% in order to go out there and make Canada proud.
I will be competing in the 20km distance race around Copenhagen on September 2nd and in order to do my best I need some help.
In the previous 6 months, I have won 10 of my last 14 races, and in the 6 months previous to that I won 6 of 12, setting course records in Sacramento, San Fransisco, and Morro Bay.
My goal is to not only place in the top three, but to win this event and take home a gold medal to Canada. There will be 40+ nations competing! I am trying to raise enough funds to allow me to train, race, prepare, and travel over to Denmark as Surf Canada is non-profit and thus has no funds to help our team of paddlers.
Please help in any way you can, and be a part of this journey with me.
Sincerely,
Dan Leo Miller
