Help for Dan Collins' Family
Donation protected
On January 12th, Dan Collins sustained a stroke while on a business trip in Florida.
The evening before, Dan was enjoying dinner with four of his work (Rexel) colleagues. As always, Dan was a lively part of the discussion. He convinced the waitress that it was a colleague’s birthday so that the staff would bring out her dessert with a candle. Dan’s goal was to put a smile on her face. Bringing joy to others was certainly on-brand for Dan!
Dan is currently in the neuro ICU in critical condition following emergent craniotomy surgery. He is receiving great care at the hospital in Florida. His stroke was caused by a left-sided brain bleed, and has resulted in the need to be on a ventilator. His family has traveled from their homes in Pittsburgh to be by his side as he continues to receive medical care.
Anyone who knows Dan can attest to his fantastic character. He is the person to whom the rest of the family would turn when they needed help. Dan is a Castle Shannon volunteer firefighter, former Castle Shannon Youth Association president, and proud Poppop.
The doctors have shared that Dan is early in the recovery journey while reminding us that his road will be a marathon and not a sprint.
While Bev is taking off work to care for Dan, and the family manages to be away from home, please consider contributing to this campaign. We appreciate any financial help or prayers that you can offer. Bev will be sure to read all comments and messages to Dan.
This GoFundMe campaign was lovingly prepared by Aron Kramer, Dan’s co-worker, Margaret Collins Welton, Dan’s sister, and Beth and Mark Pickering, Bev’s sister and brother-in-law.
