Help Damion Walk Again
My brother Damion is as God fearing man who until a few weeks ago worked tirelessly and proudly to get ahead in life and be an example to others. He is someone I looked up to and relied on. Sadly, on 12/30/21, everything changed. While at work, he started feeling ill and his face started drooping. He was then rushed to the hospital where he was kept overnight. He needed an MRI that would confirm his stroke diagnosis. However, because the hospital staff was overwhelmed with Covid-19 patients, his scheduled MRI was delayed. This is when things took a turn for the worse. While he waited, he suffered a second stroke on 12/31/21. This time the stroke was massive, and he was left unable to move the entire left side of his body. He went from being an independent professional who worked two jobs to having to rely on others to complete the most basic tasks.
Damion is facing this new challenge in his life head on and remains undeterred in the face of insurmountable odds. Now out of the hospital and in a rehabilitation facility, he is working hard to recover. But it will be a long and difficult road ahead. The prognosis is unclear, and we don’t know yet whether he will be able to walk again. As could be expected, this has taken a toll on his family and on everyone who loves him. As his family, we never expected we would have to reach out to the community for help as we were working together to support him. Unfortunately, his employer provided insurance termed his coverage on 1/24/22 and we were left scrambling to come up with ways to cover his expenses while he remains in the rehabilitation center and has no means to provide for himself. We needed to find a way to cover his living expenses as well as his medical expenses, including the cost of the rehabilitation center where he is currently receiving treatment. In addition, it is expected that some of his rehabilitation will eventually be completed at home. When this happens, we will be faced with yet with another challenge, as he lacks the necessary equipment and the means to acquire it. Damion really needs your prayers and as you can understand, he will also need your support and generosity as he navigates this new uncertain future ahead. More than anything I want to see my brother walk again but we cannot do this without your help. I kindly ask that you to help us by donating any amount possible to support Damion, so he can stop worrying about the financial burden this situation has placed on his family and can stay focused on his recovery. Please also pass this on to anyone you know that would like to help. No amount is too small, and we will be ever so grateful for it.
