David Edward Armstrong Jr. has not been ordinary in any way since life began for him. From his first days in the hospital with symptoms that pointed in directions that tests proved wrong, he had defied all logic. His brother has always called him a Paradox, he might be right!. So on some level it isn't really surprising that now with his fight against Cancer the Cancer is proving to be defying all logic and previous knowledge of it. Kaposis Sarcoma used to be a very prevalent Cancer for individuals who had compromised Immune Systems as it is a predatory type Cancer that feeds on bodies at their weakest, but with advancements in treating people who have compromised Immune Systems and or protecting their Immune Systems from becoming compromised in the first place, it has become a rare Cancer. Long Story short based solely on the science and health of DJ's Immune System he shouldn't even have Kaposis Sarcoma and because it isn't a Cancer that anyone really gets anymore there aren't alot of Doctors who specialize in treating it. DJ has already done 1 round of the Subscribed Protocol for this Cancer and within 60 days it returned and with a significant higher level of aggression. His White Blood Cells haven't recovered from the 1st round so he is already facing the need for additional treatments to help kick his WBC production into high gear, but it is looking very much like without an expert in Kaposis Sarcoma Cancer the journey will very much like climbing the Himalayas.
This brings me to why I am here. I am DJ's Mom....need I say more. I am determined to see my son beat this and live a long life.
Although DJ has amazing insurance and works for an amazing Company, EVERNOTE both helping in making his fight so far something that is financailly manageable, in order for him to seek the help of an Oncologist that Specializes in his type of Cancer he is going to have to travel to New York and Seattle to see these 2 Doctors with the hope that 1 will take his case and work with his Oncologist in Austin. While Insurance will pay for the costs associated with Treatment it doesn't necessarily cover seeking additional Opinions nor the costs associated with the travel to and from and alot of other unknown costs at this point. Amazingly DJ has missed very little work , partly due to an amazing work ethic but also do to an amazing job that has made it possible for him to work from home or wherever he needs to be. So far in this fight this 2nd round is proving a bit more challenging and nothing like the first, so we aren't entirely sure where we are heading beyond finding the Doctor that will be able to make all the pieces for DJ's Cancer defeat puzzle fit.
And I do know that being burdened with the overwhelming cost to fight isn't something I want my son to have bear, and as much as his family would love to bear it for him we can only help and ask for the generous help of family, friends and others. This much I can do for my son. If you see this and can donate to his fight, know that we are humbled and grateful. If you can't donate I ask only that you remember my son in your prayers that God would provide assistance to help heal him.
