Sweet DD was medically neglected and developmentally delayed when he entered the foster care system at the age of 15 months. DD quickly won the hearts of his foster parents, his 7 foster siblings, and everyone around him with his sweet spirit, high energy and his never ending happiness and his smile.
At 2 ½ years, he stopped walking on his left leg. After 6 weeks of several doctors saying “he is fine,” DD was diagnosed with MRT – Malignant Rhabnoid Tumor – a cancerous mass on his abdomen that was putting pressure on his hip bone and preventing him from walking. MRT is a rare and aggressive cancer, of which DD has one of the rarest forms.
DD has survived 90 days of chemotherapy and several surgeries. His foster family was there with him every minute of every day so he was never alone. DD is a fighter and no matter how sick he gets, he is always smiling and cheering everyone else up.
DD’s foster family became his forever family earlier this year. They have been with him through good days and bad, and have made a commitment to never give up fighting for him. They’ve spent their family vacation money going from specialist to specialist to make sure they are doing all they can to help him beat cancer.
The next step for DD is another round of chemotherapy with stem cell therapy. Medicaid won’t cover stem cell therapy, but it is the best hope for his survival. DD’s family has pulled together every last penny they can to ensure that he gets the best chance at life.
Unfortunately, it’s just not enough and the hospital won’t start treatment without their down payment of $60,000. Please join us in supporting DD’s treatment. Every penny helps and will make a difference in DD’s life.
