We, his surviving friends, are creating a college scholarship in his name, for graduating seniors from his old high school, so that they can go on to great achievements after high school.
The scholarship will be geared toward students, both male and female, who are in the top 50% of their class, and who have a desire to attend a four year university. Because Uncle Darryl saw the potential in everyone, this scholarship will be offered to students who exceeed all obstacles, and has dedicated themselves to changing their life for the better.
The application will be made available at Darryls church, St Paul Baptist Church, and his former high school, Roosevelt High, both of his hometown of Gary, Indiana. The application will capture both academic and extra curricular activities and at least one letter of recommendation.
This year we are beginning our efforts with a food drive at Trinity United Church of Christ. All funds raised will be used groceries to be distributed to families in need in the Gary area in this time of great need. Thank you,
