We are the DCU Glasnevin Fresher B hurling management and in co-ordination with the UCD fresher b footballers we have decided to use whatever following we’ve built throughout the year to stand up for something that we feel has become an increasingly poignant and urgent issue in student life, that simply must be addressed.

We are fundraising for Rape Crisis Ireland, a charity that provides support and advocates for victims of sexual abuse. According to a CSO survey in 2022, 4 in 10 Adults experienced sexual violence at least once in their life and 52% of young people aged between 18-24 reported they had experience sexual violence. These alarming figures simply cannot be ignored.

As student athletes and managers we believe in the power of sport to bring people together, and we are using this to bring attention to this issue.

On Wednesday the 25th of March from 4-6pm we will be hosting a charity event with over 100 student athletes from multiple different colleges. The event will take place in DCU sports ground, St. Clares (D09 E0E4). There will be an 11 a side soccer tournament taking place along with many other activities. We hope we can get as many people down on the day as possible.
